About our Logo

The logo concept is based on the Kawakawa leaf, which is one of the most well regarded native plants in Te Ao Māori for its healing and medicinal properties, also being a sacred spiritual protector. The Kawakawa leaf also has very prominent veins, which in this design are represented by the expanding koru, and are a symbol of connection, partnership and collaboration between healthcare, whānau, stakeholders and our tamariki.

About Tamariki Pakari Child Health and Wellbeing Trust

child-on-beach.jpg

While the origins of this work were conducted by a predominantly Pākehā research team acknowledging their Treaty-based obligations to achieve health equity, Tamariki Pakari has been created due to the recognised need for a partnership approach.

Through genuine partnership relationships between prevailing healthcare systems and the Kaupapa Māori research space, the Trust supports research, using a framework of mixed methodologies, prioritising child and whānau voice.

The Trust advocates for clinical services that:

  • are appropriate and accessible for all,

  • meet the needs of tamariki and rangatahi, and

  • promote compassionate healthcare provision.

We support emerging researchers and students, with a focus on Māori health research workforce development, and provide infrastructure that can allow other clinical researchers to undertake and collaborate on projects that align with our vision.
